Thanks for this. Looking at getting the Vivoactive 5. I'm hearing some reports of crashing or freezing. Did you or your wife encounter anything like that? As to why this exists, I'm fairly new to Garmin watches (currently wearing a used Fenix 5x Plus that's on its last breath) but the functionality, look and price were all really attractive to me. I'm at the beginning of the use of these types of devices on my health journey and expect I'll upgrade in a few years. For now, this looks great to me.

Garmin 840 navigation is not good , colors all look the same , routing calculating errors , very hard to ready under the sun / shadow and sunglasses. It would be an easy fix for them to allow users to customize the colors on the navigation. Really disappointing

New band ... I think some company (if not Apple) will offer an adapter so the old bands can still be used with the new band connection... that could be EVERY band company.

What light mode gives you the best battery life?

This is a joke right? There's no way a GoPro would compete against the iPhone 15 .... Apple have been making the best cameras every year, not even 10.000+ USD DSLR cameras can compete with an iPhone.

How well does the light do indoors - e.g. if I try to use the GoPro as a webcam when traveling for Zoom/Teams meetings?

Regarding what he mentioned at 1:40, my "always on mode" seems to work differently - mine's just the same display all the time regardless of how my wrist gestures. Any idea why?

Interesting. For some time, my Skydio2+ has been exhibiting a similar, somewhat erratic behaviour, which it didn't used to do. When tracking me from behind, it'll fly kind of sideways/diagonally, not centering me in the frame, and on curves, making very jerky movements, sometimes failing to turn to follow me, and flying straight until I disappear from the frame, and then jerkily rectifying. It's making most of my footage unusable, I don't know what the deal is but each update seems to make it worse

Garmin would really need to offer a smartphone like device. A small screen device, with their Watch it edge OS with sim card and an RCS messenger. Spotify is already on their devices and most other stuff could run on a browser based app. Security center device with a week of battery life with many sports utilities

25 seconds ! That’s an eternity

Saw a lot of comment here comparing Garmin to Coros. Not sure about the watch capabilities as I only own Decathlon KIPRUN GPS 500 (it’s a Coros first model) after several years using Fenix 3, the most differences I can say it’s the ecosystem. I’m started using AllTrails app few months ago and it’s only supported Garmin. That’s the pain in the ass since I can’t seem to sync my hike to the app and loose the capability to verify my hike (from the list of mountains there). So it’s all go back to what you need and what you use it for. I’m definitely changing back to Garmin as I’m doing more hike now, just contemplating to choose either this new 165 or Instinct 2 Solar

Good walkthrough! Just one quick one, can it just show pace on the screen whilst run tracking? Or is the minimum 2 data fields?

The battery life is absolutely rubbish if you walk/hike it won't last one day if you walk more than 17 miles. will last longer if you don't move around mutch

Please consider changing the title of your presentation. You did a great job of helping people who are upgrading to this watch. However, for a true beginner you are way, way over my head. I'm still looking for a tutorial that addresses people who are new to these gadgets. I'm just starting out, not upgrading.

Samsung watch are Nice for everydays use but for real sport and trail, i use my garmin forerunner 965.

Can the drone be used for analyses of foot/leg/body in walking or running ?

The new update is bad - old version you scroll in just one direction and show/hide relevant titles for you. New version limits number of information and adds scrolling in multiple directions plus clicks. I hate the new update!

Your reviews are great and I use them to inform all of my choices for tech - particularly smart watches. One request, please never ever use the phrases big-ass, small-ass, short-ass, grown-ass, wise-ass - I could go on forever - essentially anything with 'ass' attached. Wow thats so disappointing from a training perspective. I was hoping for something similar to my Garmin Fenix 7 but with LTE, however the reality is that the Pixel 2 is barely adequate for someone who trains casually.

Shouldn't the banner with FORERUNNER 265: $349 as the price, show $449 as the price instead? I managed to find a 265 on sale just before Christmas for $399 and since my old 245 was on it's last legs, I bought the 265. Had I known the FORERUNNER 165 at $249 was coming , I would have waited and bought it instead. I think the 165 is a great deal for all but the very serious racer, a bargain at $249, and should expand sales for Garmin.

Venue 3 and vivoactive 5 does not show active calories during a workout on any data screen. Tried the connectiq data screens as well. The forerunner 265 and 965 has this option. Even the Apple Watch 7 had this option

I activated the beta and concluded to deactivate it immediately. Now it is rolled out and no more way back. The so-called overview hides important information behind clicks (show all is on the upper right, hard to reach one handed) or horizontal swipes. The old UX having a more compact list to scroll through was way more informative than big tiles with mainly black background and smaller font (not to disturb the blackness I suppose). Summarizing less information and most of it is hidden behind different user interactions. Has anyone started an online petition yet?
